Setting Sail

[A ship I found and don't know where from. I'm sorry. No wait, it's from a chocolatier featured on The Selby.]

Does anyone else need a spontaneous vacation? I do. Was just talking to a friend about how one day 7 years ago I said Hey I'm coming down to visit you this weekend and flew down to San Diego for a few nights. That was fun. I'd like to do something like that again soon. It's good for the soul.

Feel free to give Beach House's Teen Dream a listen. Who knows, maybe we'll be listening together. I'm going to be playing this music all weekend to keep me company as I plan to stay cooped up all weekend. Warm, blanketed, and sleeping.

Happy weekend, everyone.

A Crafty Weekend

Yesterday's weather forecast was doomed to begin with, but it turned out to be a great day. My sister and mom came from Davis to visit my other sister and I in the Bay Area. They saw where we live and we drove around the neighborhood. Tomatina for lunch, and back to my house for an afternoon of crafting. We have plans to open up an Etsy store soon, and today was our first day of brainstorming together. My mom was super happy; you can tell by the WPMs coming out of her mouth. Non-stop talking! Enjoy the photos; the last few are of what we had made by the end of the day.

PS) See if you can find the rainbow that came out!

Shiver Me Timbers

We've been up to Tahoe together 6 times in the past month and a half; he and his brother an additional three. This winter cold is to last for another three months - can I handle it? I don't know. Let's first manage through this rain all week. I hear it's supposed to clear up Saturday.

Natural Light

[images from design*sponge and solid frog, my two favorite places for interiors inspiration]

From a post for spaces with natural light came a newfound love for indoor plants. Oh how they extend heights and depths of a room, adding such happiness and LIFE. I can't wait to get more plants for our apartment.

Rag & Bone Combat Heel

This boot screams "HOT HOT HOT" to me. Does it for you too? Where can I find a knockoff...

Chevrons on the Wall

(photo via Sabbespot via Stephmodo)

I love Sabbespot's idea for contact paper chevrons on her wall. The only problem is deciding which wall to try it on... perhaps beneath the counter??

Or how about these distressed chevron picture frames? A perfect balance between graphic and vintage; just my style.

Change for a Reason

I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so that you can learn to let go, things go wrong so that you appreciate them when they’re right, you believe lies so you eventually learn to trust no one but yourself, and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

I agree with this quote with all my soul. Who knew that I would have the same ideals as Marilyn Monroe?

Getting Real by 37 Signals

Reading this online book about building successful web-based apps and business philosophies, and already in the first chapter I'm totally inspired. I guess that's the point of an introduction paragraph, huh.

Vigorous writing is concise. A sentence should contain no unnecessary words, a paragraph no unnecessary sentences, for the same reason that a drawing should have no unnecessary lines and a machine no unnecessary parts. This requires not that the writer make all sentences short or avoid all detail and treat subjects only in outline, but that every word tell.
